Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia’s Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia’s premier gold mines. Now solely an underground operation following 17 years of open cut and combined open cut-underground mining, this operation employs more than 500 people and produces approximately 300,000 oz of gold per annum. Operating on an attractive 4/3 fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.

Accountable to the Sunrise Dam – Safety Training Manager, we are now seeking a Senior Training Advisor to join our Safety Training team. This role is based at the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on a 4/3 FIFO roster from Perth.

The main tasks of the role include:     

  • Support the implementation of the HSE Strategic Plan and improvement projects.
  • Implement the SDGM Training Management Plan
  • Develop site plans to effectively implement business processes and needs.
  • Manage and monitor progress of training improvement plans and provide regular progress reporting to the Safety and Training Manager
  • Contribute to a monthly reporting and budget reporting
  • Contribute to the ongoing development, implementation, improvement and maintenance of the TMS.
  • Coordinate regular reviews and update of training materials
  • Engage with operational personnel to identify changes to assets, equipment, or work methods that enhance safe and productive work.
  • Coordinate VOC assessments as required
  • Coordinate Emergency Response Training Needs and providers
  • Drive value creation within the department by implementing continual improvement initiatives
  • Engage supervisors to assist in completion of training and assessment activities
  • Demonstrate the AGA values at all times

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A sound knowledge of the Western Australian mining Acts and Regulations, and the Australian Quality Training Framework
  • Certificate IV – Training and Assessment
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a Safety Training capacity (Preferably in the Mining Industry)
  • High level of computer skills
  • Effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a number of teams across the business
  • Current WA Drivers Licence
  • Able to work FIFO, on a 4/3 roster
  • Existing and ongoing permanent Australian Working rights (Mandatory)
