Role Details:

Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking an experienced Charge Up Operator to work underground in our Granny Smith operation.

Reporting to the Supervisor: Underground, the successful incumbent of this role will be responsible for charging both development and production blasts, transport and handling of explosives, maintaining underground firing lines, and carrying outshot firing duties

This role is offered on 8 days on and 6 days off, 7 nights on and 7 nights off roster, and is fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) from Perth or drive-in, drive-out (DIDO) for the local community.

Duties of the role:

  • Be organized and prepared to undertake all assigned tasks by the Supervisor;
  • Handovers and technical support to be shown to the team;
  • Demonstration of excellent housekeeping standards;
  • Achieve production targets through the diligent application of explosive blasting services that will provide targeted ore in the desired form for bogging with safety and efficiency as priorities;
  • Undertake audits and ensure compliance with the site’s explosive management plan and external statutory requirements relating to explosives management and use;
  • Report all activities accurately to Pitram including loading location and nature of the material.

About You

You will have:

  • Proven experience in underground operations;
  • Experience with the use of emulsion in blasting is preferred;
  • Extensive record of safe underground mining practices;
  • Dangerous Goods and Working at Heights Ticket is required;
  • Valid drivers licence and Shot firer’s licence are essential.
