Norton Gold Fields is one of Australia’s largest domestic gold producers, with a recent annual production of up to 200,000 ounces. The Company has a mining and processing complex in Western Australia’s world-class Kalgoorlie goldfield region, including a highly prospective tenement package of more than 1,000km² surrounding the 3.8Mtpa Paddington Mill.
Currently, Norton Gold Fields is progressing its expansion of two underground mine sites namely Tuart and Enterprise and various open pit projects such as Federal, Jakarta, Golden Funnel, Rose Dam South and Rose Dam North this year.
Reporting to Senior Environmental Advisor, the successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking of all aspects of mining to in an environmentally acceptable manner.

Duties:

  • Undertake field works, groundwater sampling, inspections and other sampling activities;
  • Prepare and submit reports (internal/external)
  • Prepare/deliver presentations;
  • Collate/submit Programme of Work;
  • Ensure compliance with Programme of Work requirements;
  • Collate/submit Mining Proposal;
  • Ensure compliance with Mining Proposal requriements;
  • Collate/submit Small Operators Mining Proposal;
  • Ensure compliance with Small Operators Mining Proposal requirements;
  • Collate/submit Works Approval;
  • Ensure compliance with Works Approval requriements;
  • Collate/submit/renew/amend DWER Op Lic;
  • Ensure compliance with DWER Licence requirements;
  • Collate/submit/renew Groundwater Licence;
  • Ensure compliance with Groundwater Licence requirements;
  • Collate/submit Native Vegetation Clearing Permit;
  • Ensure compliance with Native Vegetation Clearing Permit requirements;
  • Plan – survey, audit, assessment (internal);
  • Plan – survey, audit, assessment (3rd Party);
  • Execute/coordinate – survey, audit, assessment (internal);
  • Execute/coordinate – survey, audit, assessment (3rd Party);
  • Collate/submit Annual Environmental Report;
  • Collate/submit Mining Rehabilitation Fund submission;
  • Track and record disturbance data;
  • Track and record all relevant environmental data sets (NPI/NGRS/ESG);
  • Plan/coordinate Baseline Studies/surveys;
  • Liaison and interaction with Operational Departments;
  • Liaison with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Maintain and update Environmental Obligations Register and compliance processes.

Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or similar;
  • Minimum 2 years experience in mining which included assessment of environmental compliance and/or auditing;
  • Exposure to stakeholder engagement;
  • Exposure to planning, cordinating, implementing Baseline Studies, CP, MP, WA, EPA, Groundwater Licence applications/submissions;
  • Experience in implementing abovementioned permit requirements in construction/operational setting;
  • IT – Office suite;
  • GIS – QGIS, MAPINFO, ARCVIEW;
  • Design – Surpac, Vulcan.
