Owned by AngloGold Ashanti Australia Ltd (70% and manager) and Regis Resources Ltd (30%), Tropicana produces approximately 450,000 ounces annually. The Tropicana operation comprises a significant open-pit mine with a 6- year life as well as the newly developed Boston Shaker underground. The Boston Shaker underground has a mine life of 7 years with significant exploration upside being realised with a large brownfields drilling budget to support Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve growth creating an exciting future. Coupled with this, working at Tropicana provides the opportunity to work with a gold mining major on a stable, long life and well- managed operation.
We are now seeking an Exploration Geologist to join our Brownfields Exploration team based at Tropicana. As part of the team accountable to the Superintendent: Exploration and reporting directly to the Senior Exploration Geologist, this role is permanent and is based on a FIFO 8/6 roster out of Perth or Kalgoorlie.
The role has primary accountabilities for supporting exploration activities and completing assigned project work that furthers geological understanding and exploration success both in the near-mine and regional brownfields/greenfields environments. There is a requirement for remote camp work up to four hours drive from the mine, for up to eight days at a time as part of the role.
Approximately 70% of the role is allocated to drill rig management and geological logging and approximately 30% of time is allocated to project work.
