Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia’s Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia’s premier gold operations. In late 2020 a new satellite open pit was approved (Golden Delicious) which will supplement the large-scale underground operation that employs more than 650 people, and produces approximately 260,000 ounces of gold per annum. Ongoing investment in underground and regional exploration at Sunrise Dam has extended the mine life to 2031, with the opportunity for further extensions. Operating on an attractive 8/6(or variant thereof) fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.
We are now seeking to hire a number of entry level Geology Technicians on Fixed Term contract basis (initially through to the end of 2022 with the potential for extension or Permanency) within our coreyard team. No prior mining experience is required; therefore, these roles provide a great opportunity if you are wanting to gain first time exposure to working for a global mining company. The roles are based at the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth. Successful applicants will be working 12 hour shifts with a team of other Geology Technicians, along with a Leading Hand and Supervisor, who you will report through to. The role sits within the Geological Services team and is centred around providing assistance to Geologists, by processing rock samples through a series of stages, ready for dispatch to a laboratory.
Most of the tasks are undertaken in large undercover processing sheds and offices. Ad hoc work may include tasks within an open pit and out bush. On job training, coaching and mentoring is provided to ensure employees are well equipped to undertake all tasks. At the end of shift, all staff return to the closely located mine site village, which is well equipped with a food hall, bar, shop, large gymnasium, tennis courts, running/walking tracks. Village rooms have good wifi and Telstra coverage.
