Role Details

Gold Fields – St Ives is currently seeking a Graduate Geologist to join their site exploration team, located 80km south of Kalgoorlie and 20km south-east of Kambalda as part of their Graduate Program.

We currently explore a diverse range of deposit styles and host lithologies resulting in a unique wide range of experiences for someone early in their career. Through experienced mentors and hands on learning experiences, you’ll make a significant step forward into your new career as an Exploration Geologist.

Reporting to the Senior Geologist: Exploration, you will work in a team dedicated to progressing exploration targets from generative projects through to resource definition drilling and finally handover to production.

This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off roster and would require the incumbent to be residential.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA;
  • Extensive fieldwork component including working on drill rigs to ensure drill programs are completed efficiently and effectively;
  • Daily liaising with drill contractor’s, tracking of drilling and sample dispatch;
  • Comprehensive geological and structural logging of Diamond Core and RC/AC chips;
  • Digital input and validation of logging information;
  • Sample selection for analysis; QAQC planning and evaluation;
  • Section and map updates with drilling information;
  • Consistently demonstrate and reflect behaviours, actions and attitudes in line with the company’s vision, values and code of ethics.

Key factors to your success include;

  • BSc degree in Geology (honours preferred);
  • Current manual WA Driver’s License;
  • Excellent work ethic and safety focus;
  • Previous experience in either mining or exploration preferable;
  • Be self-driven and motivated to learn new skills and develop yourself as a professional geologist;
  • Prepared to work in the field, including on the salt lake.
