Due to the recent expansion of our processing plant, Northern Star Resources has an exciting site-based leadership opportunity at Thunderbox operations looking to appoint a new Maintenance Manager.

 

The Maintenance Manager reports to the Processing Manager, and the primary role is to lead the maintenance team to execute maintenance strategies safely and efficiently. The Maintenance Manager aims to continually improve plant availability and ensure reliable performance to maximise plant uptime; and manage maintenance for other surface infrastructure.

 

Success in this role will be a high performing individual who proactively engage in safety processes and adherence to required controls. Actively monitors and promotes the value of maintenance systems to facilitate continuous improvement, high quality work and the management of cost in line with business goals. The team will develop a high level of skill, integrity and ownership developed through your active coaching, engagement and standard setting behaviour.

 

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Maximise plant availability and performance through effective planning, implementation, execution and monitoring and continuous improvement of the Work Management System.
  • Monitor Work Management System to identify improvement opportunities, provide direction and support in relation to Work Management and Pronto improvements.
  • Development of the Maintenance Department Budget as directed by the Proessing Manager. Monitor section costs and provide feedback on any variances of note. Identify opportunities for improved cost management and implement improvements.
  • Review effectiveness of the Asset’s Life of Asset strategy on an as needed basis. Provide recommendations to stakeholders as required to agree and then implement changes/improvements. Update budget and resource requirements to support the updated strategy.
  • Monitor Warehouse performance, maintain effective supply chain management.
  • Monitor and coach team leaders on the key metrics drivers to identify processing maintenance improvement opportunities, within execution standards, reliability engineering processes, defect identification/reporting and elimination.
  • Develop and maintain succession plans for key positions and identify opportunities to upskill.
  • Monitor and communicate with respective project department nominee on improvement projects or plant upgrades to ensure maintenance effectiveness in relation to maintainability and serviceability is accounted for as part of the design and hand over process.

Required skills and experience: 

  • Trade or Engineering Qualifications relevant to fixed plant maintenance.
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
  • 5-10 years experience in fixed plant maintenance management, supervision, and preventative maintenance programs.
  • 3-5 years hands on industrial maintenance experience.
  • Deep knowledge and experience in reliability concepts and practices. Such as; Root Cause Failure Analysis, predictive maintenance, thermography, shock pulse/vibration, oil analysis, performance metrics and analytics.
  • Proficient in prioritising work and scheduling/planning.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Advanced computer literacy – Microsoft Office, Pronto or similar CMMS.
  • St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
  • Knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act and the WHS (General) and WHS (Mines) Regulations.
  • Meet the requirements to be appointed as a Statutory Supervisor under the WHS (Mines) Regulations.
