About the role

Gold Road is looking for an eager, hands-on Mechanical Tradesperson to work at our Yamarna Exploration Project. This entry-level position is a fantastic development opportunity for someone looking to take their first step into the mining and exploration industry. Working with the Maintenance Technician and the Maintenance Specialist, the Mechanical Tradesperson will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of light vehicles and assisting with the upkeep of camp equipment and machinery.

This role is offered on a permanent basis at our Yamarna exploration project, based in the North-Eastern Goldfields – just a short flight from Perth. This role is currently offered on an 8/6 roster but may look to move to other even time roster patterns in the future.

Key Responsibilities

Broadly, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance of light vehicles according to vehicle servicing schedule;
  • Routine vehicle inspections, diagnosing and repairing identified faults;
  • Regular maintenance of caravans and trailers, including routine inspections;
  • Tyre fitting and repairs;
  • Minor welding repairs to light vehicles, trailers, and equipment;
  • Maintaining and reporting on stock levels required for the workshop and light vehicles.

Fleet Vehicle Maintenance:

  • Assisting light-truck and bobcat maintenance according to the servicing schedule;
  • Assisting Earthmoving equipment maintenance according to servicing schedule;
  • Assisting Forklift maintenance according to servicing schedule.

Camp and General Maintenance:

  • Ensuring generators, fuel/water pump systems and camp equipment are working efficiently, including the servicing and repairs when needed;
  • Ensuring the maintenance schedule is followed and updated to maintain the effectiveness of plant and equipment and adhere to compliance requirements;
  • ADHOC repairs to equipment and general camp infrastructure (replacing/repairing fittings and fixtures).

About yourself

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Unrestricted Australian Drivers License (HR);
  • Australian Trade Certificate III (Mechanical);
  • Forklift License;
  • Repairers License;
  • Advanced First Aid (desirable);
  • Tyre Fitting/Handling Qualifications (desirable);
  • Welding Certificate (desirable);
  • DG and CV (desirable);
  • Refrigerant handling license (desirable);
  • Generator experience (desirable).
