Role Details

Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking an Operator: Process to join their processing department at St Ives Gold Mine.

This role is offered on a 4 days on, 4 nights on and 6 days off roster and would require the incumbent to be residential in Kalgoorlie or Kambalda. Bus transportation is offered to and from the site daily, and relocation assistance will be offered to the successful candidate if required.

Reporting to the supervisor: process (shifts), you will be responsible for operating the processing plant and associated equipment in a safe, productive and efficient manner, to maximise plant performance without effecting the environment or health and safety of personnel.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the vital behaviours are adhered to at all times;
  • Practical operation of all processing plant equipment relating to crushing, grinding and gravity, leach and adsorption, elution, regeneration kiln, reagents, and tailings treatment circuits;
  • Identifying and diagnosing, where possible, items of the plant that require preventative maintenance or repair;
  • Ensuring production activities achieve maximum effective use of the plant and equipment by continual monitoring;
  • Identifying and acting on ways of improving output or efficiency of the plant;
  • Operating mobile equipment including IT loader, bobcat, and forklift as well as operating electrical hand tools in a safe and efficient manner;
  • Assisting in the development of competencies of other employees where directed.

Key factors to your success include:

  • Completed year 12 or trade qualifications;
  • Previous operating experience in a mineral processing environment, preferably gold;
  • Sound knowledge of process technologies and equipment;
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot problems;
  • Capability to complete repetitive tasks at a consistently high standard;
  • Possess a valid “C” WA licence, HR license is desirable;
  • Computing skills in word processing, spreadsheets and databases;
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Working at heights, confined space, IT, bobcat, gantry crane, dogging and forklift tickets.
