Northern Star Resources is the global gold growth company, with three large, high margin production centres exclusively in the tier one locations of Western Australia and Alaska, USA. Northern Star has challenging and rewarding opportunities for Project Exploration Geologists to plan, implement, supervise and coordinate exploration activities including soil and surface sampling, geological mapping, geophysical, geochemical and drilling programs at our world-class Carosue Dam and Bronzewing Operations. These opportunities are offered on an 8/6 roster, fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) or bus-in, bus-out (BIBO) (depending on site location).

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Logistical planning and preparation for field activities;
  • Collecting high-quality exploration data, maintain databases and undertake geological interpretations;
  • Developing, amending and supervising the compliance with procedures and guidelines to ensure all activities are conducted safely and high-quality standards are employed for geological data capture and QA/QC management;
  • Training and mentoring Exploration Geologists and Field Technicians as well as supervising other field activities including clearing, surveying, geological surveys and down hold surveys;
  • Analysing exploration data, completing geological interpretation and building geological models, ensuring the continued development of the company’s resources;
  • Timely and accurate reporting of exploration activities as required;
  • Preparing and submitting POWs;
  • Assisting in the evaluation of the potential of prospects/tenements, preparing reports and providing recommendations for exploration activities to meet the company’s exploration objectives;
  • Communicating with pastoralists, landholders and other key stakeholders;
  • Assist in the management of departmental costs in accordance with forecasts and budgets.

Required skills and experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification or high in the field of Geology;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the resource industry;
  • Competency with software packages including Micromine, ArcGIS, ioGas, Leapfrog and Microsoft Office;
  • Knowledge of Archean greenstone geology and gold systems;
  • Good local knowledge of regional geology and controls on mineralisation in the district;
  • WA “C” class drivers licence.
