Northern Star has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Project Resource Development Geologist to be responsible for reviewing existing mineral resources allowing for the identification of extension opportunities both for open-pit and underground at our world-class Carosue Dam Operations. This opportunity is offered permanent with bus-in, bus-out (BIBO) or fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) options available on an 8/6 roster.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with ensuring the geological model is of a high standard including understanding the mineralisation controls prior to creating grade estimation models;
  • Planning and management of drill programs to identify extensions and limits of ore bodies as well as mineralization controls;
  • High-quality logging of RC chips and diamond core with robust geological interpretations being formed during each stage of the process;
  • Providing all relevant information regarding each project to mine planning, environmental, metallurgical, and mine geology teams to ensure projects are de-risked from all aspects of the business prior to mining;
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and statutory requirements in order to minimise risk from both a business and safety objective.

Required skills and experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification or high in the field of Geology;
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the resource industry;
  • Exposure to underground, open-pit and exploration activity;
  • Experience with Datamine, AcQuire and Leapfrog software.
