Saracen Mineral Holdings (ASX:SAR) is an ASX listed gold producer with its core assets located in world class gold provinces in Western Australia. Saracen has produced over 500,000 ounces at its Carosue Dam Operations located 120km NE of Kalgoorlie since operations commenced in 2010. Saracen acquired the Thunderbox Operations in January 2014 and now boasts over 6 million ounces of resources and 1.6 million ounces of reserves, with a combined milling capacity of 5.0 million tonnes per annum.

We are currently seeking a Senior Mining Engineer for our Deep South Project at our Carosue Dam Operations situated 120kms north east of Kalgoorlie, WA. For the successful candidate Saracen provides a safe and positive working environment with excellent camp amenities, a great company culture, a family friendly roster and a competitive salary package.

Due to the current ongoing changes within Australia due to the COVID-19 Virus crisis response this role will be initially offered on a 2 week on, 2 week off roster. As soon as we are able to revert our operations back to their normal roster rotations, this role will follow a 8 days on, 6 days off roster.

Reporting to the Underground Manager your main responsibilities will include:

  • Hold a statutory position of Alternate UG Manager for coverage as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all legislative and statutory requirements, as well as internal company management standards
  • Daily co-ordination, prioritisation and scheduling of underground mining activities including development, production alongside the mining contractor
  • Analyse and report on mining operational performance to identify any early interventions required to maintain performance along with improvement initiatives
  • Implementation and continuous improvement of current systems to support the engineering team
  • Overseeing and coordination of medium to long term planning and scheduling and driving the execution and compliance to the plan
  • End of month reporting for development and production activities
  • Manage capital project scoping and implementation

Skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering
  • 5 years experience in an Underground Mine Engineering role
  • Experience in medium to long term planning and scheduling
  • First Class Mine Managers ticket
  • Experience with Deswik will be highly regarded
  • Knowledge and understanding of Mines Regulations, OH&S and Duty of Care
  • C class driver’s licence (Essential)
