Due to a regional expansion of the HSR function, a new opportunity has been created for an experienced Health and Hygiene Superintendent to join our Health and Safety (Operations) team based out of the Perth Offices.

Accountable to the Manager of Health and Safety (Operations), this role will be primarily Perth based on a regular roster of 5/2, with a minimum of fortnightly visits to both Tropicana and Sunrise Dam.

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Direction, support and coordination of the health team members;
  • Implement and maintain health, hygiene and injury management processes and plans under the guidance of the Operations Health and Safety Manager;
  • Implement Health and Hygiene plans and programs aligned to the Regional Sustainability strategy and legal requirements;
  • Manage the operational Health and Hygiene budget and provide input to relevant department capital and operational budget requirements;
  • Coordinate and provide technical input to health, hygiene and injury management procedures and processes.;
  • Analyse relevant data and trends to identify opportunities for improvement;
  • Oversee critical control monitoring processes for health and hygiene-related hazards (noise, dust, fumes, diesel emissions, potable water, fatigue and fitness for work);
  • Coordinate health, hygiene and injury management education programs across sites;
  • Relevant reporting to Regulators and internal stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 10 years in Mining/Heavy Industry related fields;
  • 5 years of Leadership experience in leading multi-facet health-related teams;
  • 5 years experience working in a blended Alliance or Contractor/Client workgroup;
  • Tertiary qualifications in a Health Science or Occupational Hygiene related field;
  • High level of general knowledge in Health, Hygiene, Injury Management, risk and hazard management;
  • Broad understanding of the Injury Management and Health-related reporting processes in WA;
  • DMRIS reporting processes;
  • Surface Ventilation Officer (desirable);
  • Noise Officer (desirable);
  • Lead Auditor (desirable);
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent (essential);
  • Current full West Australian “C” class motor vehicle license or current equivalent Australian State motor vehicle license;
  • Permanent work rights in Australia;
  • A National Police Clearance.
