Role Details

Gold Fields Australia is currently seeking a Technician: Mechanical (Mobile) to join their mining department at Granny Smith Gold Mine. This role is offered on an 8 day on, 6 days off, 7 nights on and 7 days off roster and is Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) from Perth.

Reporting to the Supervisor Underground Maintenance, you will be responsible for providing quality and timely preventative maintenance and repairs on the underground mobile equipment, ensuring operational targets are met in a safe, environmentally compliant and efficient manner.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Always act in a manner that seeks to enhance the safety culture and performance of GFA and ensures that the vital behaviours are adhered to at all times;
  • Achieve budgeted maintenance targets by practicing preventative maintenance through scheduled inspections, servicing, adjustments, troubleshooting and timely repair of mobile equipment;
  • Provide reliable and accurate maintenance knowledge, expertise and practical application, to minimize down time and subsequent loss of production;
  • Assist with ongoing training and mentoring of apprentices and trainees and supervising of contractors;
  • Requisitioning of parts and materials and processing of maintenance orders;
  • Consistently demonstrate and reflect behavior’s, actions and attitudes in line with the company’s vision, values and code of ethics.

Key factors to your success include:

  • Valid Mechanical Trade qualification;
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in heavy vehicle mechanical maintenance in an underground environment and knowledge of mining technologies and equipment;
  • Experience using SAP and AMT;
  • Experience with Atlas Copco drills and trucks;
  • Experience with CAT R2900 and R1700 loaders;
  • Experience with Sandvik development drills DD420, DD422i;
  • Demonstrated elevated level of safety standards and work behaviours;
  • Excellent communication skills both written and oral;
  • Valid C class WA License as a minimum, Dangerous goods card;
  • Refrigerant Handling License is desirable.
