Drill & Blast Engineer

 

Northern Star Resources is seeking an experienced and dynamic Underground Drill and Blast Engineer to be part of the Mt Charlotte Technical team.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for generating, scheduling, and implementing short term Drilling, Blasting and Ancillary mine plans to achieve the operational plan in a safe and cost-effective manner.

 

Reporting to the Senior Production Engineer, the Underground Drill and Blast Engineer is to work closely and co-ordinate the production activities with the Scheduling Engineer to ensure the production plans align with the weekly and monthly plans. This is a hands-on role, inspecting and assessing the underground production areas, liaising with the survey and geology departments when generating production plans and providing technical support to the underground supervisors and crew members.

 

The role takes on a variety of essential tasks, including (but not limited to) daily and weekly data management for reporting purposes, blast vibration monitoring and notifications, and having technical input into the large-scale production plans. Mt Charlotte utilises three different types of mining method to safely extract the production ore which provides continuous technical growth opportunity for a mining engineer seeking out a new challenge and experiences in underground engineering.

Requirements

The successful incumbent will possess the following essential criteria.

  • Experience in a similar underground position.
  • Bachelor Degree of Mining Engineering.
  • Advanced level in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience in mine design software, with Deswik being the preferred software package.
  • Experience in a production engineering related role with exposure to underground ventilation.
  • Western Australian Underground Supervisors Certificate of competency, or the ability to attain the certificate, preferred.
  • Dangerous Goods Security Card or proof of application, preferred.
  • Must reside in the Goldfields or be willing to relocate to the Goldfields region for this residential site.
  • National Police Clearance – valid within the last twelve (12) months.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.
