       Role Details

 Reporting to the Unit Manager: Technical Services, you will be responsible for the effective coordination of all mining related geotechnical issues across the underground operation to achieve budgeted production, meeting all quality standards including cost, safety, and environment. 
 
 This role is offered on an 8 days on 6 days off, 4 days on 3 days off roster and is Fly in Fly out from Perth.

Duties of the role:

  • Enable, co-ordinate and facilitate the development of geotechnical strategies which will optimise the productivity, reliability, and profitability of the operation. 

  • Active involvement in short, medium, and long-term plans and projects and ensure that all geotechnical risks are identified, considered, evaluated, and have adequate controls put in place. 

  • Contribute to the ongoing success of existing mining operations by reviewing current monitoring systems, making recommendations that will ensure adequate ground control as the depth of the mine increases, consulting with group geotechnical expertise as appropriate.

  • Lead the technical group in the optimal design and scheduling of paste-fill activities to support UG voids, ensuring all safety risks are considered and effective controls put in place.

  • Oversee the collection and analysis of geotechnical data including effective recognition, investigation, analysis of rock fall events and ground control issues. 

  • Ensure that geotechnical feasibility contributions are of the highest quality by determining design parameters, modelling and advising on the most appropriate mine design and sequence.

  • Mentoring and development of the geotechnical engineers and managing the department's succession plan.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to undertake specialist work or studies.

About you:

  • Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering or Geology with Post Graduate qualifications in Geomechanics.

  • Extensive displayed experience in geotechnical engineering, with experience at a Senior Level on operating mine sites.

  • Experience in Underground mechanised open stoping with paste fill.

  • Detailed working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act, 2020 and Regulations.

  • Ability to use software such as Deswik, MAP3D, and RocScience suite.

  • Experience in Project/ Cost/ Contractor Management.

  • Frontline Management Training, including Leadership Experience.

  • Valid driver’s license.
