We are currently seeking a Manager Asset Management to join our asset management team. This is a permanent, full-time position at the Leonora Operations. Your focus is to effectively manage the assets at our Leonora Operations which include mobile fleet, fixed plant, surface installations (including camp), and electrical/communications. Ensuring relevant Company and legislative standards to deliver completed designs and installation that meet customer requirements in a cost effective manner.

This opportunity is a permanent role and will be fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) from St Barbara’s Leonora Operations on a balanced 8 days on, 6 days off, roster cycle, flying on company time to and from Perth. You also have the option to drive-in, drive-out (DIDO) from Kalgoorlie.

The opportunity

  • Lead safe work practices by ensuring safe work conditions and practices in the department, proactively investigate all safety and health concerns and implement continuous improvement in safety;
  • Ensure effective organisation structure, delegate and goal set for the direct report and the departments in areas of responsibility;
  • Provide effective leadership, performance management, career development and succession planning of team personnel;
  • Manage and establish yearly department budget/forecast as well as a long term capital strategy for fleet and fixed assets to sustain the mine output. Meet or exceed performance to budget/forecast;
  • Establish and continually monitor strategies for improving Maintenance performance and meeting the service requirements of customer departments for the Leonora Operations. This includes training in maintenance and development of computer based maintenance management systems (Pronto);
  • Ensure all projects work are well coordinated between site departments and group or consultant/contractors as well as being effectively budgeted and monitored to within cost constraints;
  • Understand cost drivers in the asset management department and seek structural improvement in unit cost performance;
  • Ensure that capital projects deliver to plan and agreed budgets;
  • Coordinate building brilliance activities within areas of responsibility and work to ensure site wide implementation;
  • Ensure during any change management that employees are engaged in all aspects of the process (MOC);
  • Ensure daily, weekly and monthly communication throughout the departments at various levels occurs.

What we will expect from you

  • You should feel a strong alignment with St Barbara’s values as you will be required to live them. You will use our values, along with our five commitments, to guide your decision making as you work for the safety and wellbeing of our people;
  • You are able to produce a national police clearance (valid within the last 12 months) for site access purposes;
  • You have a current unencumbered West Australian ‘C’ class drivers licence;
  • Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in mechanical, reliability, electrical or mine engineering or related field;
  • 10 – 15 years mining operation experience with at least two years of exposure to the precious metals industry in an underground mine;
  • Senior level asset management experience (2 years minimum) in underground mines and operational management in underground setting (2 years minimum);
  • Familiar with maintenance software (Pronto) and Microsoft office;
  • Proven management experience in mine asset management;
  • High energy with strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong ability to work effectively with people;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with complex problems, including both definition of the problem and generation and evaluation of solutions;
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills, including goal setting, group performance monitoring and the ability to modify priorities where necessary to achieve these goals;
  • Effective written and oral communication skills, and the ability to convince others to co-operate and contribute;
  • Goal driven;
  • Lean principal’s knowledge and experience a definite asset.
