Underground Mine Surveyor

 

Northern Star Resources has a fantastic and rewarding opportunity for an experienced Underground Mine Surveyor to join our underground technical team at the new Fimiston Underground mine.

 

The Fimiston Underground mine is a new 30+ year mine life operation that has been backed with significant investment, resulting in a long-term exciting future for the growing team of underground mining specialists.

 

As a Surveyor, you will have the opportunity to handle leading industry instrumentation and technologies while building on existing industry process to overcome project specific challenges.

 

This role is a Kalgoorlie based residential 5:2 4:3 rostered position, working 10 hours per shift with the unique benefit of being less than a 10-minute drive to any front door in Kalgoorlie.

 

Key tasks are:

 

  • Regularly picking up and releasing new development memos.
  • Setting out and marking up production drill plans ahead of the drill schedule.
  • Carry out end of month processes for development and stope reconciliation.
  • Attending technical and daily production meetings and collaborating with the Senior Mining Engineers (Planning and Production) as well as the Mine Foreman, to ensure the survey priorities align with the operational team and the resourcing to complete those tasks are sufficient e.g. area is bogged, bund in place, IT required etc.
  • Performing regular cavity monitoring scans (CMS) on the sub level open stopes and within the sub level cave areas that require regular scanning.
  • Diamond drilling set outs and collar pickups in line with the geological requirements for grade control and reserve definition drilling programs.
  • Training and mentoring the Surveying Graduates and vacation students in the correct methods and standards for Underground Surveying.

 

Requirements 

 

Essential

  • Experience in Underground gold mining.
  • Ability to obtain Mine Surveyors’ Grade One (1) Authorisation.
  • Experience with Deswik Software.
  • Experience with Leica Instruments.
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region, or willing to be relocated for this residential operation.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.
