We are now seeking a Mining Systems Technician to join our Mining Team at the Tropicana Gold Mine.

Accountable to the Mining Systems Coordinator, this permanent role is accountable for providing support, system planning and troubleshooting for the mine site technology infrastructure surface and underground, specifically but not limited to radio systems and the wireless network. This also includes the mining fleet management system, comprising up to 24 x 240t haul trucks.

This role is site based operating on an 8/6 FIFO roster.  Whilst onsite technicians will be required to provide on call cover after hours.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide support and troubleshooting for the mine site communication infrastructure, specifically radio systems (Tetra Digital, UHF radio) but also the wireless and LTE Network used by the mine Fleet Management System MineStar to ensure safe and efficient operation of these systems.
  • Provide system administration for the Tetra Digital UHF Radio system.
  • Work with the Mine Star system user to ensure reliable wireless communications exist across the mine to allow effective Fleet Management System coverage.
  • Provide hands on first level support for repair and maintenance of technology on-board hardware.
  • Inspect communications and electronic systems to ensure compliance with statutory requirements as well as business needs.
  • Analyse equipment failure trends and recommend replacement equipment and components or continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain the radio Fleetmap for the Tetra Digital UHF Radio Radio System;
  • Repair radios where possible,
  • Provide Radio programming for sub-contractors and other staff.
  • Monitor telecommunication systems  performance and actively seek opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Terminate and repair  fibre cabling both on the surface and underground
  • Provide assistance to IT and OT engineers in deployment projects
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for the site for all operational technologies as required

 

About You

  • Previous experience in an electrical/communication/systems role
  • Proficient level of computer skills
  • Experience with a Fleet Management system with HP GPS ie MineStar, Modular, Jigsaw
  • Underground communication experience (DAS, Leaky feeder)
  • ACMA Open Cabling ticket with fibre, structural cabling and coax endorsements
  • Ability to obtain security installers licence 
  • Rigging Ticket (Desirable)
  • EWP Ticket (Desirable)
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working with wireless networks and radio systems
  • C Class Driver’s Licence
  • Existing and ongoing valid permanent work rights in Australia (Mandatory)
  • National Police Clearance
