Role Details

Granny Smith and Agnew Mine Sites are currently seeking a first-year Apprentice: Mechanical (Mobile) Fitter to join their Mining Maintenance team. Reporting to the Coordinator: Mechanical (Mobile), you will be responsible for gaining and developing the required skills to successfully complete the requirements of an apprenticeship as a Heavy Vehicle Fitter.

This role is offered on 8 days on, 6 days off fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) roster from Perth.

About the role:

  • Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant policies and procedures;
  • Develop individual capacity to qualify as a tradesperson by undertaking all aspects of formal and informal training that are aligned to the Apprenticeship Training Plan outline and site requirements as directed by site training personnel;
  • Applying underpinning knowledge and skills gained through the apprentice training program to enhance the reliability, serviceability and availability of site equipment and infrastructure relevant to your trade;
  • Ensuring a safe work environment by maintaining your work area in a clean, tidy and hazard-free state;
  • Using the site safety management system to report all hazards and incidents;
  • Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the maintenance team by providing support and assistance as directed.

About you:

  • Completion of schooling to Year 10 at a minimum;
  • Intermediate computer literacy;
  • C Class Drivers Licence preferred but not essential;
  • An Applied First Aid certificate would be an advantage;
  • A genuine interest and a general understanding of the Heavy Vehicle Fitting trade.
