  • Permanent position on a 8:6 12 hours per day residential roster.

Northern Star Resources has an exciting opportunity for a Project Geologist – Operations within our Kalgoorlie Operations.

This position will see the successful candidate supervise the delivery of the maximum ore grade to the Processing Plant through the designing and supervising the execution and interpretation of drill programs that add value to existing resources, locating the next viable ore bodies, and extending the Life of Mine.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Provide training and mentorship to Graduate Geologists, Mine Geologists and geology technicians.
  • Coordinate the design, scheduling and oversight of drilling programs to ensure the provision of timely and accurate data for analysis. Liaise and clearly communicate plan with numerous stake holders.
  • Supervise drill contractors, demanding adherence to all relevant environmental, safety and security measures.
  • Oversee the analysis, interpretation and modelling of geological data. Contribute to mine planning reviews to communicate relevant geological data.

 

Required skills and experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology (minimum degree).
  • Minimum Three (3) years’ geology experience in a mining environment, preferably within a gold mining operation, with experience of drill rig management.
  • Experience with mining and geology software packages such as Datamine, Leapfrog and Acquire.
  • Exposure to geological modelling and wireframing.
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region, or willing to relocate.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.
