Project Geologist – Operations

 

Northern Star Resources has an exciting opportunity for a Project Geologist – Operations to join our residential Kalgoorlie Operations. 

 

Be a Rock Star at the Historic Mt Charlotte Underground mine.

 

Just a few minutes from home, this position will see the successful candidate supervise the delivery of the maximum ore grade to the Processing Plant, through accurate identification of the mineralisation, optimal ore classification and supervision of extraction (to minimise dilution).

The Project Mine Geologist will also be responsible for designing and supervising the execution and interpretation of drill programs that add value to existing resources, locating the next viable ore bodies, and extending the Life of Mine.

 

This position is a Kalgoorlie residential role, working a family friendly 8:6 11-hour day roster.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide ongoing mentoring, coaching and support to Graduate Geologists and Geological technicians, to ensure ongoing professional development and the achievement of a positive workplace culture that reflects NSR’s Values.
  • Coordinate the design, forecasting and oversee drilling programs to ensure the provision of timely and accurate data for analysis. Ensure data quality and interpretation and provide recommendations for future work programs based on drilling results and aligned to the LOA.
  • Supervise drill contractors, demanding adherence to all relevant environmental, safety and security measures.
  • Oversee the analysis, interpretation and modelling of geological data. Contribute to mine planning reviews to communicate relevant geological data.
  • Contribute to geological logging and the instruction of Geology Technicians in sample preparation in accordance with current Standard Operation Procedures.
  • Under the guidance of the Senior Geologists, actively participate in identification and implementation of projects that demonstrates working in an environment of continuous improvement.

 

Essential

  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology (minimum degree).
  • Minimum four (4) years’ geology experience in a mining environment and a minimum of two (2) years’ geology experience in either open pit or Underground.
  • Experience with Datamine, Leapfrog, or equivalent programs.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.
