We are now seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to join the HSE team at Tropicana Gold Mine.
 

Reporting to the Senior Safety Advisor, you will be responsible for providing advice, support and services to the entire operation including but not limited to Underground Mining, Open Pit Mining, Processing, Maintenance, Business Support and Services and Mine Geology.
 

With a lifestyle balance in mind, this role is offered on an 8/5, 4/4 FIFO roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie.

Accountabilities:

  • Providing a high degree of safety and health support and advice to the operational departments of the site including Mining- Underground, Mining – Open Pit, Processing, Fixed Plant Maintenance and Projects and Infrastructure.
  • Demonstrate safety leadership and improve the safety culture through developing line capability in delivering their safety accountabilities
  • Continually review, propose and where approved, contribute to the development of improved safety systems and procedures to optimise safety services provided at Tropicana for life of mine
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to supervisors, employees and contractors in all areas of safety, behavioural and culture change, and leadership development
  • Coordinate DMIRS communication via SRS
  • Monitor action recording and close out from incidents, investigations, audits, planned inspections, safety meetings and conduct action verification to the required standard
  • Complete internal OHS audits and participate in OHS internal /external audits
  • Lead the critical control verification and safety interaction process for site
  • Assist with the overall implementation of safety systems, strategies & initiatives
  • Providing facilitation, assistance and guidance in incident investigations, HSE meetings, safety inspections of equipment and work practices on the site
  • Assist in maintaining the HSE management systems on site
  • Participate in high level incidents investigations as required and monitor incident reporting
  • Ensuring compliance with OHS regulations as well as company policies and procedures
  • Leading, facilitating and participating in risk management processes for the Mine Site
  • Assist with drug and alcohol testing

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Safety
  • Strong organisational and computer literacy
  • Prior experience as an OHS practitioner in the mining industry, with an understanding of underground mining is highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in HSE management systems
  • Qualification in incident investigation such as ICAM/Taproot
  • Experience in document development
  • Understanding of process safety management
  • Experience in delivering safety training
  • An Authorised Drug Collection Officer qualification
  • Internal auditor qualification
  • Cert IV Training and Assessment qualification
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian drivers licence or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a National Police Check
  • Ongoing unrestricted work rights in Australia are mandatory
