Senior Geologist – Discovery

 

Northern Star Resources are seeking a talented and dynamic Senior Geologist to join our residential Kalgoorlie operation within the Discovery department, with focus on leading and coordinating our Discovery Geology Team.

Reporting to the Geology Manager you will be responsible for leading the geology team in developing the next new Discoveries in Kalgoorlie, guiding and mentoring the next graduate/mine geologists, monitoring and managing drilling programs, field mapping activities, heritage surveys and geophysical surveys.

Requirements

The successful applicant will possess the following attributes;

 

  • A tertiary qualification (minimum degree level) in geology.
  • Extensive experience as a geologist in the resource industry, preferably within a gold mining operation.
  • Experience with mining and geology software packages such as Leapfrog and Acquire.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in sampling, Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QAQC), block modelling, advanced grade estimation techniques, and reconciliation.
  • Leadership experience, positively leading a team, and Contractor Management (analytical assay and drilling).
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Must reside in the Goldfields region, or willing to relocate for our residential world-class ore body.
  • Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Manual Drivers Licence.
