We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Geology Technician at our Yandal operation on a fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) 8 days on, 6 days off roster pattern. This is a challenging and exciting role which allows you to utilise your previous skills and experience whilst building relationships within all levels of the business.

What’s the role on offer?

The Senior Geology Technician reports to the Geology Technical Supervisor, and the primary role is to assist with exploration drilling and sampling activities.

Your responsibilities will include:


Process, sample and collect data from diamond drill core, including but not limited to:

  • Collect core trays from drill sites;
  • Mark out drill core; metre and orientation mark-up;
  • Collect geological data (e.g. recovery, RQD, specific gravity, magnetic susceptibility);
  • Photograph core trays;
  • Saw drill core and collection of samples as directed by the supervising geologist;
  • Drill core storage and retrieval.


  • Sample preparation as required;
  • Ensure timely and accurate sample dispatch to assay laboratories;
  • Data entry as required;
  • Sample pulp storage and retrieval.

Field Logistics

  • Assist in the supervision of exploration field camps;
  • Ensure adequate housekeeping of camp facilities;
  • Assist in the management of camp site rehabilitation upon completion of activities.


  • Assist with the procurement of geology consumables and fixed assets, ensuring adequate supplies for all surface drilling and sampling activities;
  • Complete regular audits and inspections to ensure maintenance of mobile and fixed plant;
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of relevant standard operating procedures;
  • Provide in-house training and ongoing mentoring of geology technicians;
  • Written and verbal reporting to Senior Exploration Geologist as required;
  • Develop strong working relationships with members of the mine geology and exploration departments.

The specifics:

  • Current “C” class Western Australian drivers licence;
  • St Johns senior first aid certificate;
  • Current approved and recognised forklift ticket;
  • Minimum 2-3 years relevant experience in the mining and/or exploration industry;
  • Mechanical knowledge and skills;
  • Computer literacy with the ability to use Microsoft office products.
