Position: Senior Planning Engineer – Open Pit

 

Work Location: Thunderbox Operations – located in the highly prospective Yandal Belt and the Agnew-Wiluna Belt in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.

 

Roster: 4:3 and/or 8:6 – FIFO ex Perth or Busselton

 

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Manage all planning activities incorporating short, medium and long term planning requirements.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the forward rolling six month plan in final design stage, and six to twelve months in preliminary design stage.
  • Undertake mine planning and feasibility work for both operational and development projects.
  • Conduct mine designs for all geological block models and complete conceptual mining studies on new ore bodies.
  • Update all mining costs quarterly, in line with actuals on a 12 month rolling average.
  • Develop and assist in the implementation of best practice standards and procedures relevant to the mine planning process.
  • Assist operations with mine planning, engineering projects, budgeting and business assessments when required.
  • Communicate the Life of Asset Plan to all relevant personnel to foster awareness of future targets and directions for the Mining Operation.

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

 

Experience:

  • Open Pit production and planning experience in a mechanised hard-rock open pit mine.
  • Strong working knowledge across all planning processes, from long to short term.
  • Practical production and planning experience in a large surface mine.
  • Competent in the use of mine planning and design software – particularly Deswik.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
  • Unrestricted Quarry Manager’s Certificate of Competency (desirable).
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
