We are now seeking to hire a Senior Resource Definition Geologist to join our Mine Exploration team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine. This is a full time position, based on a FIFO 8/6 roster.

Accountable to the Superintendent: Resource Development, you will be accountable for supporting and delivering the resource development processes, to ensure consistent and predictable delivery of the mineral inventory to successfully deliver the mine plan. 

Accountabilities:

  • Developing and expanding the resource base of the underground mine
  • Management and coordination of a team geologists to ensure performance to plan
  • Contractor management
  • Medium term planning, budgeting and scheduling of the underground works
  • Diagnostic analysis of data to track performance to plans
  • Coordination and management of drill programs, core logging, geological interpretations and ore domaining
  • High level project work and report writing
  • Monthly/Quarterly/Annual report submissions
  • Continuous improvements and updates to processes and procedures
  • Training, coaching and mentoring staff
  • Staff performance reviews
  • Completing all tasks in accordance with all relevant safety instructions, procedures and rules, and the Duty of care for employees as legislated

 

About You

  • A relevant tertiary or postgraduate degree in Geology
  • Extensive experience within a geology discipline, working in active mine environments. Underground exploration experience in gold will be highly regarded
  • A comprehensive understanding of the whole mining cycle
  • A strong safety leadership culture
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced mining environment with the skills to troubleshoot and provide solutions aligned to the business plan
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with staff and contractor management and leadership
  • Proficient in 3D software packages with experience in Leapfrog highly regarded
  • Experience using scheduling software, such as Deswik
  • Sound knowledge of QAQC practices
  • Permanent work rights in Australia
  • Current C class Manual Drivers Licence
  • The ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
