We currently have a great opportunity for a hands-on and motivated Specialist Mine Engineering (Short-Term Planning) to join our Underground Mining team at Tropicana Gold Mine. Accountable to the Senior Specialist Mine Engineering (Short-Term Planning) and working with an inclusive team of engineers, this role is responsible for the delivery of UG mine plans and schedules in a safe and efficient manner, utilizing industry best practice.

Based at our Tropicana Gold Mine on an 8/6 FIFO roster from either Perth and/or Kalgoorlie.

About the role:

• Be an active safety leader in line with the company’s values, policies and procedures
• Produce accurate and clear DMRs (development memorandum register) for approval by Senior Specialist Mine Engineering
• Produce EIs, Engineering Instructions
• Designing stopes as well as Stope Notes preparation
• Developing Weekly Plans and schedules using Deswik OPS, ensuring compliance to 3 Months Plan priorities
• Ensuring any risks to the plan are adequately communicated to all stakeholders
• Identify improvement opportunities, implement, and manage projects to achieve improvements
• Be an active safety leader in line with the company’s values, policies and procedures
• Lease with Short, Medium and long-term planning, Geotechnical, Geology, Maintenance, Contractor and Ventilation teams

About you

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering with relevant work experience
• Prior experience in underground mine planning is essential
• Competency with mine planning software, DESWIK, CAD and Scheduling, MDM and Deswik OPS.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization
• Experience with using Microsoft Office programs
• A current ‘C’ class Western Australian driver’s license
• Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
• Ongoing permanent work rights in Australia (mandatory)
• Be prepared to work in alignment with our company values on a daily basis
