Northern Star Resources currently has opportunities for driven and ambitious Underground Mining Engineers. These opportunities are available across our Carosue Dam, Thunderbox and Jundee operations, working on an 8:6 FIFO roster ex Perth. This is a great opportunity for those looking to further develop their underground mining career within a high-performing technical team.

 

Here is what awaits you:

  • Provide direction and technical guidance to Shift Supervisors and Mine Foremen regarding drilling and blasting schedules, plans and priorities.
  • Develop accurate, practical and achievable drill and blast plans to support production targets and operational schedules.
  • Monitor underground production activities to identify opportunities to improve mine designs, blasting outcomes and operational productivity.
  • Conduct stope performance reviews and back-analysis to drive continuous improvement in drill and blast designs, controls and execution.
  • Prepare stope designs for approval by the Senior Production Engineer, maximising the economic extraction of ore bodies within equipment and manpower constraints.
  • Complete stope reconciliations and summarise stope performance outcomes upon completion of stoping activities.
  • Support ventilation and production engineering activities to ensure safe and efficient underground operations.

 

To thrive in this role, you will need:


Experience:

Experience in drill & and blast engineering within a hard rock underground mining environment. Demonstrated competency using Deswik UGDB is essential.


Qualifications:
Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, with 1–2 years of practical underground mining experience preferred, including completion of underground practical time.
