The purpose of the Senior Geotechnical Engineer role is to provide geotechnical designs, planning and guidance to ensure the safe and sustainable extraction of resources at our Mt Rawdon Operation.

About the role

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer role offers an exceptional opportunity to manage risks and proactively identify Geotechnical hazards associated with the mine. Key result areas in this role include:

• Ensure compliance with the relevant mining act and regulations with respect to managing geotechnical risk and update the GCMP
• Open pit slope stability (Radar operational) and Tailings slope stability (inSar)
• Design, implement and review Quality control / quality assurance specifications
• Facilitate all internal and external geotechnical audits and inspections
• Develop internal auditing tools as required

Our Mt Rawdon gold operation is an open pit mine located 75km south west of Bundaberg in Queensland. Being a residential mine, our local employees go home every night, with many living in the communities of Mt Perry and Gin Gin. About you

As a Geotechnical Engineer you will have a tertiary qualification in Mining/Geoscience/Civil with major in Geomechanics or equivalent. Masters in Geomechanics will be viewed as favourable. Working towards CP/RPEQ registration. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:

• 7 years experience in a geotechnical capacity with proven knowledge in Open Cut mining methods
• Had some exposure to Tailings Monitoring
• Be a solutions focused individual
• Ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to use specialise geotechnical hardware and software, including radar monitoring software, MAP 3D, Rocscience (RS2, 2D & 3D Slide, S-Wedge, Unwedge, RocFall, RocData)
• Prior experience using Gem 4D, Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan and Sirovision.
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written
• Experience with geotechnical investigations, interpretation, reporting and risk management
