In Australia we own and manage the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, and the Tropicana Gold Mine (70% AGA owned 30% Regis Resources). These are two of Western Australia’s premier gold operations, with ongoing investment and exploration taking place across both open pit and underground operations at each site. 

 

 

The Opportunity

 

 

We are currently seeking a Resource Development Geologist, reporting to the Senior Resource Development Geologist, working within the Tropicana Brownfields Exploration team.

This position is a site based role at our Tropicana Gold Mine on an 8 days on/6 days off FIFO roster, with direct flights from Perth and/or Kalgoorlie.

 

 

Role Purpose:

 

The main accountability of the role of Resource Development Geologist is to plan and execute resource development at Tropicana Gold Mine (and satellite deposits) to achieve outcomes that both increase and de-risk resources. The role encompasses accountabilities for targeting, drill plan development, drill plan execution, monitoring of QAQC (drilling and laboratory) and subsequent geological modelling of drill programmes inside the Active Mining Area (AMA) and at satellite deposits being taken to inferred-indicated resource stage.

 

 

Accountabilities:

 

 

  • Maintaining a high standard of safety by complying with all relevant safety instructions, procedures, rules and the duty of care for employees as legislated
  • Supervise surface and underground drill programs covering RC, Diamond drilling and directional drilling techniques, ensuring the highest level of safety, sample QAQC, production and environmental compliance.
  • Influence resource and reserve addition and conversion to drive improved LOM outcomes through effective and safe drill program design and execution.
  • Monitoring performance to plan of exploration target objectives and provide feedback to peers and reporting line via handovers and technical reporting.
  • Geological and structural logging of RC chips and diamond core.
  • Geological mapping, interpretation, wireframing/3D modelling and targeting.
  • Maintaining a high level data capture, data chain of custody into the geological database.
  • On-ground contractor management and supervision of drill crews, downhole surveyors, laboratory QAQC.
  • Provide mentoring and training to junior staff and field technicians as required.

 

 

About You

  • A relevant tertiary or postgraduate degree in Geology
  • Proven experience working as a geologist in Resource Development, Exploration or Mine Geologist roles.
  • Experience or capability to work Underground, Open Pit and Regional
  • Geological logging diamond drill core and RC experience
  • Experience validating data and working with databases, such as Datashed
  • Willingness to take on responsibility and accountability, playing your role within a hard working team.
  • Professional curiosity- driven to learn and develop geological and mining context
  • Excellent communication, interpretive and report writing skills.
  • Current C class Manual Drivers License.
  • The ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
  • Existing and ongoing Permanent work rights in Australia. (Mandatory)
