Owned by AngloGold Ashanti Australia Ltd (70% and manager) and Regis Resources Ltd (30%), Tropicana produces approximately 450,000 ounces annually. The Tropicana operation comprises a significant open pit mine with a 6 year life as well as the newly developed the Boston Shaker underground. The Boston Shaker underground has a mine life of 7 years with significant exploration upside being realised with a large brownfields drilling budget to support Mineral Resource and Ore Reserve growth creating an exciting future. Coupled with this, working at Tropicana provides the opportunity to work with a gold mining major on a stable, long life and well managed operation.

We are now seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Maintenance and Engineering team. This role is based at the Tropicana Gold Mine on a 4/3 FIFO roster from Perth.

Accountable to the Superintendent: Engineering, this role is accountable for carrying out electrical and instrumentation designs, managing external electrical contractors and consultants to produce project deliverables and reviewing and providing technical support for on-site execution of the electrical and instrumentation portion of both capital and maintenance improvement projects within the Maintenance and Engineering department.

The main tasks of the roles include:   

  • Carry out electrical and instrumentation design for capital and maintenance projects
  • Manage external electrical and instrumentation design consultants
  • Ensure all design work conforms to all statutory requirements and applicable national standards
  • Manage cost, schedule and scope for OPEX and CAPEX initiatives
  • Manage on-site execution contractors
  • Development of operational and capital project budgets
  • Provide engineering support and advice for electrical and instrumentation infrastructure across site


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering, preferably a bachelors in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
  • 5 – 10 years relevant industry experience involved in site based projects, preferably in a maintenance environment
  • Drafting experience with Autodesk and Bentley drafting packages
  • Excellent time management and organization skills
  • Capability to manage multiple projects in accordance with agreed budgets and schedules
  • A National Police Clearance
  • Permanent work rights in Australia (Mandatory) – we are open to New Zealand based candidates willing to relocate to WA.
  • You must be able to provide a COVID-19 Digital Certificate or current Immunisation History Statement showing vaccination against COVID-19 or that an exemption to vaccination has been granted and recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register
