Ready to pursue your professional journey with Northern Star? As an ASX 50 global-scale gold miner, we have sizeable operations in Western Australia and Alaska. With unparalleled pathways for advancement and avenues for personal growth, we stand as Australia’s premier gold employer. Your journey starts here.

At Northern Star, we live by our STARR Core Values of Safety, Teamwork, Accountability, Respect and Results. These Values are not just words on paper; they are the cornerstone of our Company culture and guide everything we do. You will play a pivotal role in upholding these Values and contributing to our collective success.

We are seeking an experienced Geologist – Operations to join the Open Pit Geology team at KCGM Operations, Northern Star’s key strategic asset. The Fimiston Super Pit is one of the largest open-pit gold operations in the world — a top-tier deposit that, after more than a century of mining, is still growing in scale. For a geologist wanting to build their craft on an orebody of the highest calibre, there are few better places to do it.

This is a residential role on an 8/6 roster in Australia’s premier gold mining region. It’s a rare combination: career-defining work alongside a five-minute commute, an established community, and a lively sporting and social scene with excellent facilities for families.

Here’s what awaits you:

  • Planning, supervising and logging grade control drilling programs across four active mining areas
  • Utilising your analytical and technical expertise to accurately assess and interpret geological data from drilling and pit mapping
  • Designing ore blocks of high technical merit in a dynamic production environment where the designs you execute may be mined that very day
  • Working closely with planning and operational teams to ensure that our high-value ore is accurately extracted with minimal ore loss and dilution
  • Making your mark on process improvements to continually optimise our operation as new technologies and capabilities are made available

To thrive in this role, you’ll need:

A rock-solid foundation: Possesses a fundamental understanding of geology and its processes, with a strong grasp on production.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a team with the ability to adapt to different communication styles and collaborate with people from different backgrounds and disciplines.

Qualifications: A tertiary qualification (minimum degree level) in geology, current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Manual Driver’s Licence.

Experience: 2+ years as a geologist in the resource industry, preferably within an open pit gold mining operation, experienced in software such as Datamine, Leapfrog and Acquire, good sampling and QAQC knowledge, effective teamwork and Contractor Management skills.

You must be a Goldfields resident or willing to relocate for this opportunity.

Passion for Growth: Thrive in a role where quick-thinking, problem-solving, and meticulous attention to detail are keys to success. Step into a role where your skills make a real impact- apply today and grow with us!
