Northern Star Resources has an exciting opportunity for a Geotechnical Superintendent to join our Thunderbox Operations. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will lead capability uplift and drive improvements in geotechnical practices across site, while strengthening team development and succession planning. This role operates on an 4:3 FIFO roster ex Perth.

Here is what awaits you.

  • Lead and direct the Geotechnical team to support safe, efficient operations
  • Ensure quality technical input to maximise ore recovery and meet targets
  • Build team capability and monitor geotechnical performance and compliance
  • Investigate and resolve geotechnical issues across site
  • Contribute to mine design and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manage contractors and consultants
  • Play a key role within the site senior leadership team

 

To thrive in this role, you will need

Experience:  

  • Solid experience in Geotechnical Engineering across Open Pit and Underground operations, including void management, squeezing ground, seismic damage and backfill
  • Proven leadership experience managing and mentoring large technical teams, contractors and consultants Proficient in geotechnical and mine design software, including Datamine, Map3D,
  • Rocscience suite (Phase2/3), Dips and Unwedge
  • Experience with mine auditing and geotechnical assessment techniques
  • Strong capability in geotechnical analysis and mine design tools
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and make strategic, business-level decisions


Qualifications
:

  • Tertiary qualification in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in the mining industry.
