About the role 

Flexible location options – residential from Kalgoorlie or FIFO from Perth. 

Mungari is strengthening its underground leadership team with three senior opportunities across the operation. Each role offers a different level of leadership and accountability, from operational leadership through to broader whole-of-underground responsibility. 

Reporting to the Operations Manager Underground, you will lead through your Superintendents and operational teams to translate priorities into effective execution, building the capability, accountability and culture required for consistent results. 

You will combine strong operational leadership with a focus on people, performance and continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to improve productivity, work quality and efficiency while maintaining high safety, statutory and compliance standards. 

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Lead departmental performance against production, safety and operational objectives. 
• Set clear expectations, KPIs and improvement priorities for the underground team. 
• Coach and develop Superintendents, Supervisors and emerging leaders. 
• Lead and develop operational engineers to effectively plan and improve mining performance. 
• Analyse operational performance and identify opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency. 
• Ensure effective risk management, reporting and compliance across the department. 
• Partner with Technical Services, Maintenance, Geology, Sustainability Commercial and People and Culture to resolve operational priorities. 

About you 

You are an experienced underground mining leader who knows how to translate operational priorities into results through your leadership team. 

You bring strong operational judgement, safety leadership and commercial awareness, together with the ability to develop people, build accountability and create a high-performing team environment. 

You are comfortable balancing production requirements with safety, quality, cost and longer-term capability, and have a demonstrated ability to identify and implement practical improvements. 

You will bring: 

• Significant leadership experience within underground mining operations. 
• Experience leading through Superintendents and operational leaders. 
• Strong safety, operational and performance management capability. 
• Demonstrated success delivering production and operational improvements. 
• Experience developing leaders and building team capability. 
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills. 
• Engineering or Mining Engineering qualifications with appropriate statutory competencies. 
• First Class Mine Managers Ticket essential
