Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia’s Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia’s premier gold operations.  In late 2020 a new satellite open pit was approved (Golden Delicious) which will supplement the large-scale underground operation that employs more than 650 people, and produces approximately 260,000 ounces of gold per annum. Ongoing investment in underground and regional exploration at Sunrise Dam has extended the mine life to 2031, with the opportunity for further extensions. Operating on an attractive 8/6(or variant thereof) fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.

AngloGold Ashanti are currently seeking an experienced Process Technician to join the Processing team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on an 8/6, 7/7 FIFO roster from Perth.

Accountable to the Superintendent Processing, this role is responsible for safely operating the processing plant, and its associated facilities, at their most efficient, productive and cost effective level.


The main tasks of the role include:

  • To operate the process plant at its most efficient level in accordance with specified standard operating practices. Operation will involve managing plant throughput, gold recovery and resource usage through effective communication, troubleshooting and problem solving
  • To liaise closely with metallurgical and maintenance personnel on safety, plant performance and technical issues with the aim of optimising plant performance, increasing ease of operation and eliminating existing and potential problems
  • Provide applicable coverage for the Processing Shift Supervisor to provide guidance and support to the crew, ensuring the safe and efficient operational performance of the processing plant and operators, in their absence
  • Carry out routine performance monitoring duties such as sampling, sample analysis, inspection, log keeping and data analysis
  • Closely monitor equipment performance to ensure the timely identification of malfunction and loss of performance. Report such conditions to maintenance and metallurgical personnel and assist in repair and troubleshooting appropriate to the level of training received
  • Carry out ancillary duties including, amongst others, reagent preparation, instrument calibration and effective plant housekeeping


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum 5 years’ experience working in a Gold mineral processing plant
  • Previous experience with flotation and complex comminution circuits in a centralised control room operating function
  • Ability to work in a highly autonomous work environment
  • Previous experience in leading highly motivated individuals
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Strong demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to train and transfer knowledge in alignment with the department training matrix
  • Strong work ethic
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills
  • Sound computer literacy – Microsoft Office and SCADA
  • Display good trouble solving skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement
  • Current WA C Class Drivers Licence
  • Existing and ongoing permanent work rights in Australia (Mandatory)
  • Able to attain a National Police Clearance
  • You must be able to provide a COVID-19 Digital Certificate or current Immunisation History Statement showing vaccination against COVID-19 or that an exemption to vaccination has been granted and recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register
