Project Geologist – Discovery

We are looking for a Project Geologist to join our Discovery team at our Kalgoorlie Operations.

Reporting to the Senior Geologist you will be working a 5/2 4/3 10-hour day roster in the

heart of the Kalgoorlie Gold Fields. As a Project Geologist within the discovery team, you will supervise safe, effective and efficient exploration with the objective to increase mineral resources on projects suitable to support Operational Life of Mine plans.

What you can look forward to:

• Plan, budget, and supervise the execution of exploration programs to test targets, define or upgrade mineral resources.
• Supervise and mentor Graduates, Geologists and Geological Technicians.
• Supervise contractors and suppliers engaged in exploration activities on the project area.
• QAQC monitoring and validation of exploration results.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and statutory reports.
• Deliver periodic progress reports on time and in the correct format.
• Liaise with Growth, Resource and Operational Geology functions, Metallurgists and Engineers.

Where you’ll add value:

• Minimum five (5) years’ geology experience in an exploration/discovery role, preferably within a gold mining operation.
• Knowledge of mapping, structural geology, geochemistry, drilling and sampling techniques.
• Some understanding of resource estimation methods.
• Awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
• Awareness of tenement management and relevant legislation.
• Computer literacy – Microsoft Office, Vulcan, AcQuire database, Logging software, GIS packages (ArcView and/or MapInfo).

Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualifications in Geology (minimum degree).
• Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence.
