Saracen Mineral Holdings (ASX:SAR) is an ASX listed gold producer with its core assets located in world class gold provinces in Western Australia. Saracen has produced over 500,000 ounces at its Carosue Dam Operations located 120km NE of Kalgoorlie since operations commenced in 2010. Saracen acquired the Thunderbox Operations in January 2014 and now boasts over 6 million ounces of resources and 1.6 million ounces of reserves, with a combined milling capacity of 5.0 million tonnes per annum.

We are currently seeking an Underground Mine Geologist at our Carosue Dam Operations situated 120kms north east of Kalgoorlie, WA. For the successful candidate Saracen provides a safe and positive working environment with excellent camp amenities, a great company culture, a family friendly roster and a competitive salary package.

Due to the current ongoing changes within Australia due to the COVID-19 Virus crisis response this role will be initially offered on a 2 week on, 2 week off roster. As soon as we are able to revert our operations back to their normal roster rotations, this role will follow a 8 days on, 6 days off roster.

Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist your main responsibilities will include:

  • Managing stockpiles/headings and complete daily production tracking, reconciliation and validation of mined material
  • Undertaking geological mapping and sampling of headings and maintain accurate and up to date reference plan
  • Assisting with planning and execution of diamond drilling programs
  • Creating, updating and maintaining 3D geological models through effective UG mapping and core logging
  • Data management including managing and validating drillhole data (AcQuire) and ore production data in a timely and effective manner
  • Interacting with mining department to maximize ore recovery and minimize dilution
  • Promoting a safe work culture within the department whereby all unsafe work practices and potential hazards are reported and the safety of co-workers at the mine site is proactively monitored

Skills and experience:

  • BSc or higher in Geology or relevant Earth Science
  •  Recent and relevant underground mining experience 2+ years
  • Good understanding of underground geology practices and procedures
  • Experience in the supervision of diamond drilling, sampling and QA/QC programs
  • C class driver’s licence (Essential)
