We are seeking a strong Senior Mining Engineer to join our high performing Underground Technical Services team at our KCGM Operations at the new Fimiston Underground Mine. This opportunity is offered on 8/6 roster, 12-hour days, either residentially based in Kalgoorlie-Boulder – the Heart of the Goldfields, or Fly-in Fly-out (FIFO) ex Perth. It is an exciting time to be part of the biggest growth story in Australian Underground Gold Mining, with experience to be gained that will be career defining.
Reporting to the Underground Manager, the primary role is for the safe management and delivery of all engineering requirements within the Mining Engineering team. This challenging and dynamic role will enable an experienced senior mining engineer to lead a technical team of scheduling, project, drill and blast and graduate engineers, driving safe production from the operational team. With the additional functionality of exposure to Alternate Underground Manager if the candidate desires, this role paves the way to those looking for their next career step.
Your main responsibilities will include:
To thrive in this role, you’ll need:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years UG hard rock mining experience. Experience using Deswik CAD and Scheduler packages. Advanced Microsoft Office skills. Experience working with a mining contractor. Experience in a mine that utilises Sub Level Caving, Modified Avoca or Sub Level Open Stoping. Underground Mine Rescue Experience. Experience using Power BI.
Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering. Current Unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class Drivers Licence. First Class Mine Managers Certificate of Competency.
Passion for Growth: Strong leadership skills and experience leading a diverse team of new-to-industry engineers. Ability to hold themselves and others accountable to their roles and responsibilities
