Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a Senior Specialist Hydrogeologist at our Sunrise Dam Gold Mine, reporting directly to the Director Technical Services.

This position will be based on an 8/6 or a 4/3 FIFO roster where we offer direct flights to site from Perth.

Role Purpose:

This role will contribute to the development of a longer term Life of Mine (LOM) water strategy and management plan that aims to ensure the water supply for the LOM including: increase and optimise the capacity of the low salinity water supply; optimisation and providing of a lower cost sustainable process water supply and provide sufficient water supply for the plant throughout.

Accountabilities:

• Provide Hydrogeology support to site for water supply bore fields, developing systems, processes and site water balance models that support the Sunrise Dam LOM Plan,
• Construct and deliver the Hydrogeology work packages including drilling, bore construction,  pump testing plans and pump selection to mitigate concerns and manage performance of the bore fields,
• Ensure that water monitoring data is collected, interpreted and managed for efficient reporting purposes,
• Management and installation of groundwater telemetry systems,
• Report performance to plans, keeping the line management informed of variances to plans, identified risks and risk management plans,
• Implement and deliver compliance with site HSEC policies, management systems and processes within Hydrogeology,
• Build and improve upon site capability to deliver site water balance and water management strategies to align with statutory compliance requirements and support the Sunrise Dam LOM Plan,
• Develop, maintain, analyse, improve and report on Hydrogeology processes and systems to provide effective planning of work, efficient and safe work practices and promote continuous improvement,
• Work with colleagues at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine in different departments to maximise value for Sunrise Dam.

About You

• Tertiary qualification in hydrogeology or geology, with a post graduate qualification in hydrogeology preferable
• Significant operational experience in; and understanding of groundwater hydrology, hydrogeological processes, bore construction and development, bore field management as pertains to an operating mine site,
• Ability to take a ‘Life of Mine’ view to business operation and optimisation,
• Competency in industry standard groundwater hydrology software.
• Project management experience, particularly contract management of Drilling Contractors will be highly regarded,
• Understanding of submersible pump selection and capability plus a basic grasp of fluid mechanics will be highly regarded,
• Ability to work with a diverse range of people and cultures, and build cross-discipline relationships
• Existing and ongoing Permanent work rights in Australia (Mandatory)
