The successful candidate will be based in Kalgoorlie but will also be required to move around to various sites when required. Working closely with the OHS team and site management on a 7:7 roster.

Job tasks and responsibilities:

  • Ensuring the strong development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Health and Safety systems
  • Taking ownership of governance inspection and auditing
  • Management of Health and Safety reporting systems, regulatory reporting systems
  • Provide advice, interpretation and guidance to Management on statutory requirements and best practice developments within the OH&S sector
  • Analysing trending data to identify at risk areas and adequately implement proactive controls and target audits to manage potential negative outcomes
  • Ensure training and education with regards to systems, statutory appointments, hazard awareness, reporting and duty of care is delivered and captured
  • Incident prevention and investigation

Skills and experience:

  • Worked at a Health and Safety Senior level for at least 5 years
  • Worked in the Health and Safety mining sector, onsite for at least 5 years
  • Cert IV (minimum) in Workplace Heath and Safety – Diploma preferred
  • Current Cert IV Trainer & Assessor (TAE40110)
  • Exposure to or training in Emergency Management practices and systems
  • Proven exposure to and trained in ICAM investigation
  • Current First Aid
  • Strong working knowledge of mining construction / or open-cut mining operations
  • Proven experience with development, implementation, execution and continuous improvement of Health and Safety systems
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders including our major clients
  • Excellent computer skills
