The Opportunity

At AGA, we value diverse perspectives. If you’re ready to take on challenges and make an impact, we’d love to hear from you – even if you don’t meet every requirement still apply and let’s start the conversation.

We’re growing – and due to changing business needs, we’re seeking an Underground Mine Geologist to join our Geology team. Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you’ll be based at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on a roster of 8 days on and 6 days off, with the choice of direct flights to our site from Perth or Kalgoorlie. You will form part of a skilled, tight-knit team, backed by your Senior Mine Geologist and supported with the resources and guidance you need to succeed. While the work is demanding, the team culture remains supportive and inclusive, with respect, collaboration, and genuine care for its people at its core.

Sunrise Dam provides a rare career opportunity to work on one of the biggest and most geologically complex underground gold operations in Western Australia deploying a unique underground grade control process utilising five underground RC rigs and conditional simulation modelling. As Mine Geologist, you will add value by conducting detailed UG mapping & assessment of developments for ore/waste. When not underground, your time will be spent assisting with updating orebody interpretations, production tracking, QAQC and planning and designing RC drill programs to help define reserves to support the operation’s delivery of 250koz+ per year. The primary purpose of this role is delivering the grade control, ore definition, ore production, material tracking, and reconciliation processes to meet monthly production schedules.

About the Role

  • Demonstrate a strong affinity with AGA values, especially in safety ‘walking the talk’.
  • Coordinate within the geology and mining teams to ensure succinct and timely execution of the mine plan.
  • Manage and report daily, weekly, and monthly production activities, reviewing plans and reporting against scheduled performance.
  • Undertake and oversee underground mapping of development drives. Training graduate geologists in all aspects of their roles.
  • Contribute to updating of orebody domains based on mapping and drilling information.
  • Drill samples management & QAQC of assay results.
  • Contribute to drill database management, mine to mill reconciliations and material tracking.
  • Manage reverse circulation drilling activities from scheduling to design and implementation.
  • Assist grade control geologists in generating high-quality models using conditional simulation techniques.
  • Building and maintaining cooperative and collaborative working relationships with alliance partners across site.
  • Completing all tasks in accordance with all relevant safety instructions, procedures, and rules, and the Duty of care

This role offers an excellent opportunity to apply your technical skills in a dynamic mining environment while contributing to the long-term integrity and performance of a world-class gold processing operation.

About You

People are at the heart of everything we do. We want you to collaborate with us, share your ideas and feel confident in challenging the status quo. You’ll bring a strong mix of technical know-how and practical experience to the team. To be considered, you should have:

  • Preferably 2 years of Mine Geology and comfortable with underground environments.
  • A strong sense of safety.
