About the role

 

Reporting to the Processing Manager and forming part of the site Senior Management Team, the Metallurgical Superintendent is accountable for the safe, efficient and cost?effective operation of the Processing Department at Ernest Henry.

This role provides technical and people leadership across metallurgical and laboratory functions, ensuring gold and copper production targets are achieved while maintaining strong performance in safety, environmental compliance, quality and cost control.

You will lead ore treatment planning, metallurgical optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives, working closely with processing, maintenance and mining teams to maximise plant performance and long?term value.

 

Key responsibilities for the role include:

 

  • Developing and executing weekly and monthly ore treatment plans
  • Providing technical leadership to achieve annual production and recovery targets
  • Leading, mentoring and developing metallurgical and laboratory teams
  • Delivering accurate and timely metallurgical accounting and reporting
  • Monitoring and optimising key plant operating parameters
  • Implementing short? and medium?term production planning and forecasting
  • Driving continuous improvement in safety, recoveries, throughput, reliability and cost
  • Supervising assay laboratory operations to ensure accuracy, efficiency and compliance
  • Planning and supervising mill relines
  • Coordinating metallurgical and process improvement projects
  • Supporting long?term processing strategy and optimisation initiatives
  • Contributing to annual operational and cost budgeting
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental and corporate governance requirements

 

 

About you

 

You are an experienced Process Metallurgist with demonstrated leadership capability in a mining processing environment. You bring strong technical depth, a data?driven mindset and the ability to lead teams in a production?focused operation.

You are comfortable balancing safety, cost, recovery and throughput, and thrive in collaborative environments where continuous improvement and operational discipline are valued.

You will also bring:

  • A tertiary qualification in Extractive Metallurgy, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Previous experience as a Process Metallurgist within mining operations
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Strong understanding of ore processing operations and plant optimisation
  • High?level data analysis and metallurgical accounting capability
  • Commercial acumen including budgeting and cost control
  • Strong people leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A proactive safety mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
