The Jezzine Barracks precinct provides a range of facilities such as BBQ areas, observation deck and picnic shelters as well as a coastal walkway from The Strand to Rowes Bay.
Vehicle camping areas in Townsville include Saunders Beach, Bluewater Park, Toomulla, Rollingstone Park and Balgal Beach. These locations also allow for tent camping, except for Saunders Beach.

The Strand Water Park is popular with families with kids and has slides, water cannons and picnic facilities.
The Townsville Civic Theatre offers performances in dance, music, opera, comedy and drama from major Australian companies, with international and national artists that complement the work of local performing arts organisations.
The Perc Tucker Regional Gallery is Townsville’s premier regional art gallery, offering a dynamic range of local, national and international exhibitions complemented by workshops, talks and a host of other programs.
Events
Townsville has plenty of events all year round to keep you busy, including hosting the Goovin’ The Moo music festival.
Life Festival (7-10 April): Life Festival is a free event for the whole family running for three days and features guest speakers, live music, local art and interactive children’s areas.
Groovin’ The Moo (3 May): A full day of country hospitality, amazing music and good times.
Eco Fiesta (7 June): A long running and well-loved environmental festival, proudly presented by Townsville City Council.
Strand Ephemera (July-August): The North’s Sculpture Festival is Townsville’s highly popular outdoor sculpture exhibition of state and national significance.
Sealink Magnetic Island Race Week (29 August-2 September): With top notch racing, live bands and partying galore, the shore side program of this annual regatta is sure to leave you wanting more year after year.
Ingham Maraka Festival (October): Featuring steam train rides, a cocktail night, TRYathlon, dinner dance, afternoon tea, pet parade and a float procession.
