Located in the Laverton region, AngloGold Ashanti Australia’s Sunrise Dam is one of Western Australia’s premier gold mines. This large-scale underground operation employs more than 650 people and produces approximately 300,000 ounces of gold per annum. Operating on an attractive 8/6 fly-in fly-out roster, Sunrise Dam boasts excellent accommodation and facilities.

We are now seeking a highly capable Underground Electrical Supervisor to join our Sunrise Dam Maintenance team. Accountable to the Superintendent Underground Maintenance, this role is accountable for coordinating maintenance resources to ensure maximum efficiency and operation.

This role is based at the Sunrise Dam Gold Mine on an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth.

The main tasks of the role include:    

  • Assisting the Superintendent Underground Maintenance in supervising an electrical maintenance team and ensuring that they are trained and developed to their full potential;
  • Working with the maintenance team in a ‘hands on’ capacity and carrying out electrical maintenance work when required;
  • Work closely with mechanical department personnel;
  • Liaising with maintenance personnel on safety, performance and technical issues;
  • Assisting in the management and execution of daily, weekly and monthly work plans and schedules;
  • Work closely with mining departments and engineers, for the development of future power requirement plans, to ensure mining activities are not disrupted;
  • Allen Bradley PLC and Citect programming;
  • Developing detailed maintenance plans for the delivery of work including assessing labour requirements;
  • Assisting in the development of electrical engineering standards and work practices;
  • Ensuring team compliance with all company, legislative and statutory regulations in regards to safety and the environment; and
  • Liaising with stores personnel to ensure timely arrival of parts and equipment.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a WA “A” Grade Electrical Workers License (Cert IV in Instrumentation is desirable but not essential);
  • Be eligible to be an In-House Electrical License nominee;
  • Be responsible for all duties required as an In-House Electrical License nominee;
  • Have extensive mining industry experience in maintenance and installations in underground hard rock mining;
  • Have a minimum of 5years experience in a supervisory role but also demonstrate a ‘hands on’ approach;
  • Have training in Front Line Management;
  • Have experience with maintenance planning/scheduling within CMMS systems, essentially SAP;
  • Hold excellent communication and leadership skills with superior analytical, planning and prioritizing skills;
  • Be proficient with Microsoft computer software, including Outlook, Office and Project; and;
  • Ability to work with engineers for project design and planning of underground high voltage reticulations;
  • A strong commitment to safety, the ability to forge strong working relationships and motivate high performance is required.
  • Hold a current WA Drivers Licence
  • Be able to work FIFO, 8/6 roster
  • Existing and ongoing Permanent working rights in Australia (Mandatory)
