After an impressive debut in 2013, the Tropicana gold mine has consistently achieved or beaten performance targets. Owned by AngloGold Ashanti Australia Ltd (70% and manager) and Independence Group NL (30%), this large-scale, modern open pit gold operation has been one of the most significant Australian gold discoveries of the last decade.

Along with continued investment and focus on our open pit mining, Tropicana has also recently commenced underground operations at Boston Shaker.

We are now seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to join our Maintenance team at the Tropicana Gold Mine.

Accountable to the Electrical Maintenance Superintendent, the purpose of this role is to provide an electrical service for designated fixed plant and infrastructure across the mine site to ensure reliable, efficient and sustainable run time. This role is based on a FIFO 8/6 roster from Perth or Kalgoorlie.

The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Carrying out Maintenance Tasks in the Mill Area as directed by Electrical Maintenance Supervisors
  • Maintaining Crushers, Conveyor Systems, Pumps, Ball Mill, HPGR, Vibrating Screens & Feeders, Cranes & Hoists, Cyclones and all associated Wiring, PLC’s and Instrumentation and Control. As well as Electrical duties, the tasks involved in maintaining this equipment may also include Welding, Painting, Greasing (lubrication) and Fitting
  • Carrying out electrical Maintenance Tasks on other areas including the Accommodation Village, Mine, Bore Fields or on other infrastructure areas
  • Carry out installation of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment and ensure all statutory compliances are met
  • Availability after hours on a “Call Out” and/or nightshift roster basis when required, to respond to any equipment breakdown
  • Assist with shutdown co-ordination and execution

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A current A-grade WA electrical worker’s licence issued under the Electricity (Licensing) Regulations 1991
  • A dual trade as an Instrument Technician or have experience with instrumentation and PLC’s, specifically Endress & Hauser and Allen Bradley
  • Extensive experience in the maintenance of mineral processing or heavy industrial plants
  • Have completed formalised High Voltage Switching Training competency
  • Computer literacy
  • SAP experience
  • WA driver’s licence
  • Existing and ongoing Permanent work rights in Australia (Mandatory)
