Manager: Geotechnical Engineering
The Opportunity?
We are currently seeking a highly competent professional within the Geotechnical space to lead the initiative in this recent opening based in Perth, Australia.
Reporting to the Director: Geotechnical Engineering (Underground), the Manager: Geotechnical Engineering (Underground Design) key responsibilities include developing geotechnical engineering designs and risk management solutions across AGA’s global underground mining assets, leading design teams, managing complex and competing project workstreams, and aligning engineering standards and strategies with broader corporate objectives.
This position requires on-site presence with travel to the operations. Applicants should be prepared for international travel.?This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to be based in Perth and have the ability to travel and work in Ghana, Guinea, Tanzania, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, DRC, Egypt and the US in diverse and challenging operations.
Accountabilities:
– Leading the development of geotechnical engineering designs to support the Business plans Strategy and long-term Full Asset Potential initiatives.
– Coordinating compilation of geotechnical design charters as agreed upon with projects/operations, and managing task priorities, initiatives, deadlines and resourcing to drive these to completion.
– Supporting the implementation and application of functional geotechnical systems, (i.e., standards, guidelines, processes, procedures) on Projects and in operational Business Plans to ensure apt control of geotechnical hazards.
– Direct leadership, resource deployment, and task prioritisation over a flexible engineering team while maintaining a direct reporting line to geotechnical leadership and key stakeholders.
– Compiling and issuing discipline specific feedback, highlighting optionality and action register progress to the BU VP Technical, VP Geotechnical Engineering and Project/Mine Management as required
