Due to company growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an Underground Planning Engineer to join our team  at  our Thunderbox Underground (Thunderground) Operations.

The Thunderbox Underground Feasibility Study (announced on the ASX August 2019) confirms a large, high productivity, low cost, long life mine underpinned by 11Mt Reserves (910koz). The successful candidate will gain exposure to multiple highly productive mining methods (longhole open stoping and sub-level open stoping with pastefill), as we prepare to commence production and ramp up to become one of the most productive, low cost underground gold mines.

 Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:

  • The development and design of stopes
  • Short, medium and long term planning and scheduling
  • Mine budget preparation and implementation
  • Mine services design including backfill
  • Assisting with reserve calculations
  • Modelling of ventilation plans
  • Perform the duties of the Ventilation Officer under MSIR 1995
  • Software and systems implementation

Skills and experience:

  • Degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent
  • 3 years experience in underground mining engineering roles
  • Experience with pastefill desirable
  • WA First Class Mine Managers Certificate or ability to obtain one
  • Competence with mining software packages, Deswik proficiency will be highly regarded
