About the role

The Senior Planner Electrical role combines responsibilities in both electrical systems support and energy management. You will be responsible for technical support on electrical supply, distribution, and associated hardware. You will also support the site energy management program and good standing in the various utility programs. This role is to recruit for a vacancy.

The roster will be 5 days on / 2 days off and 4 days on / 3 days off (9.5 hours).   

We offer a competitive salary, bonus structure and future growth. The compensation range for this role is $ 130,000 to $160,000 CAD.

Key result areas will include:

• Provide technical direction and support to the electrical team
• Support planners in developing and updating maintenance strategies, plans, and methods
• Liaise with utilities, regulatory agencies and subject matter experts on projects, shutdowns and supply of energy
• Maintain site power system modelling software (ETAP)
• Review new equipment to site to ensure it meets applicable standards
• Update AutoCAD drawings and drawing databases related to instrumentation and electrical projects
• Maintain site energy management plan
• Develop long term site load planning requirements
• Lead implementation of identified energy projects as requested
• Pursue utility incentives and outside funding sources for projects and programs
• Modify and update as required site energy management information system
• Comply with federal and provincial acts and regulations, and legal requirements
• Adhere to all relevant corporate policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned.

About you

As a Senior Electrical Planner, you will be a Certified Engineering Technician/Technologist, certified electrician or have a Professional Engineer designation in Ontario.

It is also important that you have/can demonstrate:

• Thorough working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code
• In-depth knowledge of electrical principles, including those for power distribution, low and medium voltage, PLCs, AC motors and drives
• Knowledge of CSA Z462 Workplace Electrical Safety
• Knowledge of CSA M421 Use of Electricity in Mines
• Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs and software associated with
• 5-10 years of experience in an Industrial setting is preferred
• RETScreen, Office Suite, SCADA (Wonderware), DCS (Foxboro) Schneider PME and ITT Network experience desired
• Knowledge of Arc Flash Studies and implementation
• Strong attention to detail
• Strategic and commercial acumen
• Good communication skills
• Ability to comprehend and read technical drawings.
