The Opportunity

As a participant in the Gold Fields Vacation Student Program, you will gain valuable exposure to the day-to-day operations of a leading mining business. Throughout the Summer, you’ll work alongside experienced technical professionals, developing practical skills and firsthand insight into the gold mining industry. 

 

The program provides a unique opportunity to apply the knowledge gained through your university studies in a real-world setting, while building the technical, professional, and problem-solving capabilities needed for a successful career. Through meaningful project involvement and on-site experience, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of mining operations and the role your discipline plays in delivering safe and sustainable outcomes.

Skills & Qualifications

•    Current driver’s licence (ideally manual license or with desire to obtain it in the future)

•    In progress of completing your Tertiary Qualification in Environmental Management or similar 

•    Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance

•    Willing and able to work on a fly-in, fly-out roster in remote locations, including 12-hour shifts.

 

About the Role

•    Gain broad exposure to environmental activities across Gold Fields’ Australian operations, supporting site environment teams with day-to-day compliance, monitoring and reporting work.

•    Learn real tasks such as field data collection, data entry and quality checks, GIS and drone operations, building your hands-on experience.

•    Apply university learning in an operational setting while building professional networks and exploring a potential career pathway in the mining industry.
